60 Golfers Brave The Snow To Raise Money
The 6th annual event raises over $1500 for children effected by Philippine’s Typhoon

RICHFIELD (November 27, 2013) – Local business owners and golfers brave the cold and swing into action for a good cause on Thanksgiving. A Richfield neighborhood transforms their subdivision into a backyard golf course to set the stage for a one club, foam golf ball tournament. On November 28, the sixth annual Turkey Cup to benefit Operation Christmas will tee it up in Richfield from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

The event will raise over $1500 from private donations from its golfers and local corporate sponsors including, Boucher Automotive, GolfWisconsin.com, Barley Pop Pub, Bilda’s Friess Lake Pub, Voss Insurance, The Design Engine, The DevIn Group, MJM Screenprint, and Almost Golf.

“Our goal is to raise $1,500 this year for Operation Christmas Child, which is enough to buy toys and personal care items for 250 children in need. The items donated are packed into shoe boxes and delivered to children around the globe, like those hit from the Typhoon that recently hit The Philippines. Not bad for a bunch of guys golfing in their backyards guys” says Brian Weis, co-chair of The Turkey Cup. “It is going to be cold swing a golf club in the snow this year. But it will give us a warm feeling that we gave back to kids who are less fortunate. What better day to give something back than on Thanksgiving.”

Six years ago, The Turkey Cup started with a few friends gathering the morning of Thanksgiving to hit some foam/almost golf balls around the yard. The following year the group pledged to start the tradition of a Thanksgiving golf tournament to raise money for a good cause. Over the years, the event has raised over $7,500.
